Creatures Called Stories: A Movie

For the past year, I've been writing stories & poems based on one idea:

Your Life is a Story that Matters.

I've even developed this website around that belief. I've felt strongly about that ever since a student in our youth ministry (among a few others) was struggling with suicidal tendencies.

I plan on telling that full story soon, but for now, here is the poem I wrote that started this whole concept which led to this site and, eventually, my new book coming out soon.

May it speak truth to what is written on the heart of your existence.

CREATURES CALLED STORIES

Releasing, in full, Wednesday, December 13, 2017. Available for Pre-Order on Amazon NOW!

Creator in the Peanut Butter

pb & j

i've always liked
peanut butter
creamy or crunchy

when i was young
what i am now
and i don't know
when i've gone without
everytime i looked
it was there

no asking
no begging
just waiting
to be consumed
by me
or anyone else
in my mind

an endless supply
of peanut butter
for you
for me
to be shared

-Michael Puglisi

About peanut butter. And mostly not about it at all.

The God of the Universe is here. Ever present. Never leaving. Always with you no matter where you end up in your story.

So stop for a moment today. And take in this endless supply to be shared.

Zephaniah 3:17 “The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”

For Those in Nature's Destructive Path

With so much afftecting our world right now, I thought this poem might bring some encouragment. So whether you are in the recovery process, are about to be hit by a storm, dealing with fire or anything else that might be a battle, this is for you:

“Hope Wins”

In the times of your struggles,
in the weight of your pain,
May you not feel like you're wasting away.

There is hope for you daughters & hope for you sons.
Hope that says your soul will not be undone.

Hope that fights far past all of the bleeding.
Hope that defends when the storm gives you a beating.

It comes in the form of being with you at all times,
even when all sound is as loud as a mime.

It comes being for you, no force stands against
It's power & love, so don’t ever lose this sense
of having nothing to fear, nothing large nor small,

for this hope, my friends, is the God of all.

Song for a Storm

"How long have I been in this storm?

IMG_2729.JPG

So overwhelmed by the ocean's shapeless form

Water's getting harder to tread
With these waves crashing over my head

If I could just see you
Everything would be all right
If I'd see you
This darkness would turn to light"

 -"Storm" by Lifehouse

Whether you're in a physical storm or you're getting hit with one spiritually. (Or you're even in both). Here is a song that might reflect what you're feeling and give you some hope.

 PSALMS 107:28-29 (ESV) “Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed.”

Michael's Story: God in the Art

I wrote
Not sure of when
But I did

//

It became a passion
Shorts were all I knew
But then I grew

 //

Learning of poems
Writing less of what I know
And more of what I learn

 //

Days are fuller
The nights aren’t empty
It’s Him who comforts me

 //

I don’t fear opinions
The thoughts of them
The ones that don’t matter

 //

Instead I write for me
for the people around
sharing what I think

 //

the stories, the poems
about my life and others
ones we see, the ones unheard

 //

not stopping
always creating

 //

"I wrote this poem in the front of my notebook as a reminder to never stop creating and sharing what I want to. I’ve written so much and only shared a handful of it with others but after receiving positive feedback I’m more confident in my writing.

I don’t fear what others will say.

I go through enough stress picking the right words to say as I write to stress over whether someone won’t like what I write.

Over the month of April, I detached myself from social media to write more, because I felt I needed to. Praying constantly throughout, I didn’t hear a voice or have God show up in a dream, but there was an urge in me to share my work and allow it to leave the screen of my computer.

I would love to say God writes for me, but He’s given the gift of letting me write and I couldn’t be more grateful."

Isaiah 64:8: "But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand."

As a being of the Ultimate Artist, may you also create.

May it be a reflection of The One who made you.

And let that art not just be with a device or pen, but with your heartbeat and your soul.
